Class Descriptions

Guided Meditation
In meditation, we try to develop wisdom, learn to observe our own mind, decrease negative mind states and develop positive mind states. People who meditate regularly have been shown to feel less anxiety and depression. You will learn how to free the mind of scattered thoughts, generate self – acceptance, confidence and enthusiasm to make the mind peaceful.

Pre-Natal Yoga
Pre-natal Yoga classes will prepare you for a healthier pregnancy and more mindful labor and birth. The class will also help you to reduce stress, build strength, increase flexibility, enhance a woman's experience of her unborn baby and empower her for birth.

Qi Gong
Each class will include the skill of building, balancing and refining energy and awareness, as well as deep relaxation and meditation.

Tai Chi
A series of movements performed in sequences known as “forms” or “sets”. Tai Chi, often referred to as a meditation in motion, requires concentration, controlled breathing, balance, shifting of body weight and muscle relaxation.

Yoga/Pilates
A fusion of Pilates and Yoga that is ideal for those needing to strengthen their core, improve flexibility, strength and balance. It is excellent for developing general tone and fitness in the body while creating a sense of inner calm, relaxation and overall well-being.
Will resume on September 18th.

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga classes begin with warm up movements and breath awareness to prepare you for yoga postures.  The heart of each class is a sequence of postures that stretch, strengthen, and balance your body.  Each class ends with a deep relaxation and meditation.  Class levels range from gentle (for those with physical limitations or beginners) to mixed level (for beginner to intermediate) to vigorous (for the advanced student with previous yoga experience).

Yoga with Damian

This class will emphasize body awareness and expansion along with learning meaningful boundaries. Your body will tell you how deep to go, however, Damian will be there to guide you by offering suggestions and modifications.  Respect where you are today and approach every class with an open heart and open mind. All skill levels are welcome to practice with us.

Mommy and Me
Finding time to exercise with a newborn baby can be a challenge!  This class is the perfect way to stay in shape and spend quality time with your baby.  Six weeks following birth, return to Yoga with your baby to enjoy postures and breathing to help regain abdominal strength, body flexibility and calmness. Bring a blanket for your baby and as always, check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Mixed Level Yoga& Yoga for 55+
Kripalu yoga classes are mixed level and will begin with warm up movements and breath awareness to prepare your body for classic yoga postures.  The heart of each class is a sequence of postures (different for each class as well as each instructor), that stretch, strengthen, and balance your body.  The class also includes breath awareness or pranayama and quieting the mind as the class ends with a deep relaxation and meditation. In  Yoga for 55+, classes are gentle to mixed level and the focus will be on minimizing stress on joints, and maximizing postural alignment techniques. Taught by an experienced teacher, who is 55 plus.

Yoga for Back Care
Yoga puts you in touch with the present moment and helps you to increase awareness.  It also brings health, happiness and a knowing of peace. Choosing yoga will help you slow down and relax muscles that are stressed and tired.  Yoga for Back Care will help you to realign your body by increasing strength and flexibility in your postural muscles, minimizing low back discomfort.
